about
My name is Sukhjit. It’s pronounced sook-jeet. Don’t let the 3 consonants in a row intimidate you.
I live in San Francisco and although I’m not an SF native I am definitely a local. That means I can park parallel on a steep hill, live in a 100 year old Victorian and I know all the best dives in town. I’ve also been here for 15+ years. Before San Francisco I lived north east of the Bay Area where my parents still have a small fruit farm. Visiting the farm is a ritual for me. I like to spend time with my folks and I’m actually kind of a fruit nerd which means I like to learn what’s in season and what to do with it.
For work I’ve spent most of my career in traditional media, primarily in television. I’ve had just about every job under the sun in production. My very first job in broadcast was for a little start up cable network called ZDTV which later became TechTV. That’s were I cut my production teeth and developed a fondness for technology.
Since then I’ve worked at KSBW, KTVU, KGO Radio, Metro Networks, the Travel Channel, HGTV and the Fine Living Network. Most recently I had my own show called “Unboxing” for a social networking site called Seesmic. Creating content using social media is a liberating experience for someone like me who has spent most of my career writing scripts read by hosts and reporters. Using social media has helped me find my voice and an audience that connects with it. I am an advocate for online tools to help content creators produce, distribute and connect with an audience.
Sukhjit.me is my new online home. I vlog and blog here about all things important to me. That means innovation, gadgets, production, community, family, fruit, chocolate, Bhangra, social media… the list is endless. It’s a big experiment but a pretty fantastic one. It takes an independent spirit to be a successful vlogger, I’ve discovered. But I’ve also found that with social media independent does not mean alone. This is my blog with my name on it, but I would be nothing without the generous support of my online network of friends and community.
Besides working on Sukhjit 3.0 you can find me producing and hosting short cooking shows for CookingCapsules. And recently I’ve started working with the PeopleBrowsr team. I’m producing short videos on how to use PB and I’m part of their group of community managers.
sounds just like it’s spelled on 12seconds.tv
