Collective Good Guy

This summer I went a first of it’s kind music event in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park called Outsidelands Festival. It was weekend in the park with some of my favorite bands like Radiohead, Beck and Tom Petty. The event organizers also made a big effort to keep the whole thing as green and carbon neutral as possible. There were a great number of green and socially responsible booths set up to explain and empower people interested in all things environmental. I had to stop at the cell phone charging station and I’m glad I did. It was run by a really nice guy named Seth who told me about the company sponsoring the free charging booth, Collective Good. They recycle cell phones and share proceeds with charities. Beyond that by recycling unwanted phones they keep old cell phones out of landfills. They also run a site called Green Phone where they buy old phones, resell them and then with that money they plant a tree. I think that’s great. As more people trade up for a new Gphone, iPhone or any of the new smart phones it’s not a bad idea to check out Collective Good. Chances are they can take that phone off your hands and do something good for the earth at the same time.

I also wanted to note that I shot this video and all the videos from Outsidelands with a flipcam.
