Come walk with Me, Pua and my Sister

This is what you’d get if you went on a walk with me and my Sister =) She’s lived in Hawaii for many, many years and she’s kind of a plant nerd… so her knowledge of foliage is outstanding. Also, my nieces dog, Pua is a really feisty and funny. I sometimes think I should produce a show just about her day to day it would be hilarious. Of course I added a little Bhangra music to it all. I decided against searching for an appropriate Hawaiian tune in lieu of playing for you, something I might actually listen to in my ipod. =) Balle.

Hope you enjoy the walk in Nuuanu.

Nice dog, cat, surroundings, and sister:)
  • Very nice!
  • Hey thank! Thank you so much for leaving a comment. Always great to see that my peeps have stopped by www.sukhjit.me! =) --sukhjit
  • I loved this walk! You have a true gift into leading us with beautiful images, sounds and stories, Sukhjit, I loved it, thanks!
  • Hello @otir! Msging you from the farm.
  • Gah, this is what I get for relying on Twitter for sukhjit.me post notifications. I missed this! Problem rectified by subscribing to the feed. =]

This was one of my favourites! Pua's adorable and that lizard was *gorgeous*. Much prettier than the lizards in Phoenix, Orlando, or Delhi. Blue feet, how fun! I have issues with creepy crawlies and all things buzzy and sting-y, but I love lizards and frogs, go figure. =)

    Thanks for sharing, as always.
  • Just reading your comment about rss-ing me! Now that is like a big blog hug. Thank you @justg! --sukhjit
  • Aloha!!

Sounds like you're having fun missy! Beautiful place, love to go there one day!

By the way, that lizard or whatever it was looked nice and colourful but I'm squeamish - it reminded me of when I visited Pakistan and the the "chipkaliyaan" on the walls! I had a horrific incident once: I was going to use my towel to dry my face when I saw this baby lizard sitting on my towel *eww! eww! eww!* *shudders*

    Have fun in Honolulu!!
  • @techno_barista Eeeewwww! Your story made my stomach hurt!
  • OMG! Wow, you left me a video reply! :D I feel so special now *hugs* Thanks! I can't believe I missed this!

I just noticed the email notification as I was going through my inbox, anyway...I won't miss it next time! :)

Also, I've kinda been MIA from the Twitter/Blog world...too many things happening...my bro is getting married and I've been running around! It's insane!!

Anyway, will catch up on all your blog posts I've missed.

So going back to your reply *ahem* I'm not so scared of spiders (of course I wouldn't touch it) but I probably would let it crawl on my walls freely as long as it doesn't come near me.

But lizard/geckos/snakes or whatever...now those are really creepy. Sorry to make your stomach hurt, but I had to share my story! I have lots more but I won't share them. Let's just say, this one is NOTHING compared to the other encounters I have had!

Again, thanks for the video reply!!! Love it!

    Ciao!

I love the vid. I've never associated bhangra and tropical environments until now. And the cat (Lenin or Lennon?) is so cute. It looks exactly the stray cat I feed outside my house. =)
  • Bhangra & Hawaii are a natural fit, no? LOL!
  • roninspirit
Haha, this is true. Bhangra does go well with everything. This was actually the first video of yours that I watched the whole way through. Now I'm just going through and seeing what I've missed. Punjabi Mela is the first entry? Maybe one of these days I'll work up the nerve to post a video reply. =)

By the way, what do you use to record your field posts? I was sort of inspired by your site to try my hand at video blogging. Writing and film are two of the things I love the most, but I don't do enough of either. I think my last two blog entries were spaced 2 months apart, so I thought I'd try to combine the two interests, but I dont' want to carry my hulking DV camcorder around.

Hope you enjoyed the North Shore!
  • @roninspirit Leave a video comment! Once you start, you can't stop!
  • That was an awesome video! I've never been to hawaii but now I really wanna go....those geckos look stunningly beautiful and the cat and dog playing was so cool...even they seem to be enjoying the tropical breeze! wish i was there. Thanks for the walk :D

it seems like the video cut off... anyhow...

you're absolutely right! it's always good to have a local tourist guide. I remember when I visited scotland and whales, we made our own plans. no tourist guide! it was much better that way IMO.

the islands are so beautiful, I'm sure the only way to see the islands is to be guided by a local.
  • Wow, looks like your having it rough over there compared to our beautiful overcast rainy day today. The ending of that video was great! I want to see more cat and dog fights please. thnx, bai!
  • You can get homesick in Paradise too..
  • ted
This is a great video Sukhjit. I think (but am not positive), that the playing between the dog and cat towards the end was just play fun. They are probably good friends.
  • You are right. They were just having fun. I still got scared though!

I wish I had been on that walk with you and your sister!! Looking forward to some more urban hiking when you get back to SF. You aren't missing much with the weather here at the moment, so soak in the Aloha (and bring some back with you please). Nice post! xo, Mary Ann
