Cooking Capsules is an Android App

I talk about Cooking Capsules quite often, but I realized somewhere along the line, there’s a chance that people who follow me on twitter or facebook have no idea what I’m talking about! So, I decided while having a coffee with the creator of Cooking Capsules to film a very simple video to serve as quick explanation. I shot this in a crowded cafe with my Flipcam so please be a little forgiving of the blur and audio, there is a more polished video in the works. For now… here you go! Also, there is a great story behind the creation of the Cooking Capsules Android application for the G1. If you’re an entrepreneur read more about it and the creator, my friend Mary Ann Cotter.

Click here for the Chana Dal recipe I mention in the video.

  • Was a good read. I'll be back for more.

too bad, cooking capsules isn't available for Windows Mobile. oh well. I want share-in on the fun!
  • One day it just might be Alan! Also, I have to say, from what I've seen of the new HTC smartphones, they are just awesome. I can see why stick w em.

Always a pleasure to see a comment from you Alan! Thanks so much! --sukhjit

    One day?! Awesomeness.

Yeah, I'm getting ansy... the new HTCs are slowly wearing on me... usually sprint releases the new major model in the fall. So come the fall we'll see what I get. =)
  • Gift me an Android phone, won't you?
  • LOL! I would if I could! I'm still waiting to get one! The g1 is really cool. I use to think the iPhone was the only player, but honestly the g1 is a solid contender. My only issue with it is that it doesn't do video... but neither does the iPhone yet. In the meantime, I'm rocking my plain old samsung phone from 2 years ago.. it's working just fine.

Thank so very much for leaving a comment on my blog! Always great to hear from friends. --sukhjit
  • My pleasure!

It doesn't do video, and I've heard its rough around the edges (some people *hate* the curve). But considering Android is open source, you aren't tied down to any Apples or BlackBerrys!

Which samsung phone do you use?
  • Mmm… दाल (dal). The magic word. I pretty much love anything having anything to do with it. I love the idea of cooking capsules and have been intrigued since I first heard/read your mention of it. I kept forgetting to look it up, though, so thanks for this introduction! I'm eagerly anticipating CC's arrival on the iPhone/iPod touch, which is being planned for the future, according to their FAQ. Good stuff.
  • I was wondering about that! I'd love to see this app for iPhone. I have one called All Recipes and it is good but nothing like the CC.
  • Funny, I was just reading/watching your post on "Behind the Scenes of a Cooking Capsule." This is a very interesting and exciting concept!! I like it. I really admire you girl! I learn something new about you every time. Chana daal is my fav. Speaking of food, I'm having aaloo bhujia tonight...vaah vaah! :D

By the way, you weren't kidding when you said you love mobile phones (did I just see two phones in that video?) :o)

And yes, I think I have made myself at home on your blog haven't I? lol! I was laughing when I read that. Okay, so far I have commented on:

    -Sena Cases
    -Tea Time
    -Ahnu
-Searching for a Saint (I replied to your last comment); now this.

Now about posting a video comment to your vlog...hmm....that'll take some time.

By the way, is there any benefit to signing up with Disqus?

    Ciao bella!
  • Before Disqus, I either didn't comment on blog entries or, when I did, had to meticulously keep track of the web page and keep an eye out for any changes. Commenting on blog entries is, without some way of subscribing to comments, largely a spew-n-run deal, which I really dislike. This is less true now that so many blogs give you the option of subscribing to a post/comment thread. The fantastic thing about Disqus, though, is that it pulls your comments and replies in from all the blogs that support it so that you don't lose track of a conversation. For blog authors it's pretty great, too, because you can pull in feedback from all kinds of sources, like trackbacks, Seesmic, Twitter, and even Facebook.

(I've nothing to do with them even though I sound like an advert, it's just that I just fleshed out my profile and added Disqus integration myself so its features are fresh in my mind. Hope it helps.)
  • Sold! lol! I just signed up for it and it is pretty neat. Thanks for the info!
  • Alright, how awesome is it that you guys just had this conversation? I'm psyched! When I started this site it was in hopes that people would not just talk to me but also each other... community, you know. This is is. Thanks ladies, for making my day. --sukhjit
  • Awwwww...okay you're gonna make me cry now *sniff*

Seriously, I think you have a great blog here Sukhjit. The fact that you post a video AND a written post makes me want to actually leave a comment!

Congratulations girl, you now have a community! :D Okay, I get silly on an empty stomach...must go eat.

    Ciao!
  • Did you have channa dal, T_B? =) Nice to meetcha and thanks for making that possible, Sukhjit!
  • Actually I just had moong daal for dinner. It was yummmmy! Nice to meet you too!

    Edit:
p.s. This was truly a D'oh! moment. Thanks again. And yes, sorry Sukhjit!
  • Sorry, hit the "post button too fast"...Nice to meet you too!
  • Poor blog, we are nesting our comments like crazy (sorry, Sukhjit). Now that you're using Disqus to post, T_B, you can edit your reply, so you don't have to worry about having hit the post button too quickly. Neat, eh? =)
