Tips on Video Blogging for Guru Tube

Gurutube.net is a site that features experts like Guy Kawasaki, Jeremiah Owyang, Stefanie Michaels and MC Hammer sharing their knowledge about building business and brands online. It’s a no frills look a spectrum of topics related to social media. Here’s my talk on video blogging:

Thank you to Jeremy Vaught for the image used as the thumbnail for this post.
  • Really nice job Sukhjit and I totally agree with you Most Important Idea at the very end !
  • jseleven
It's the two way conversation and exchange of information that has always made your content so honest and revealing as to who you are. And that my friend is how all true relationships form.
  • grrr! looks like your site ate my video post again, i'm starting to think it might be my computer, i'll try from my laptop later, but heres the link to check it out http://video.seesmic.com/threads/DOZx5j1VVP i think you'll like it. Keep up the good work!

awesome. I love it! I now have to check out the site. did you ever think you would call yourself a "video blogger" a year ago?

    I say it's crazy awesome! =)
  • Your enthusiasm is so infectious, I love it! This video called for a video comment, but here it's already 9:35 and, you know what? I still haven't gotten a proper light in my corner. Which was barely okay for seesmic...

Thanks for this great talk. I do believe it takes a little more than what you state for being a real video blogger, but you are truly humble about your own qualities. Keep on rejoicing us with your great blog, I, for sure, love it.
  • Thanks for you kind words Otir but I have to respectfully disagree with you a little bit. I really don't think you need that much more to be a real video blogger. To me, if you are using video to tell your stories and connect with people on the web, you are video blogging. I may have a background in television and I use some of those skills when I produce my own content, but honestly the real beauty of the web is that you don't have to follow any rules, you just do what's right for your message. That being said, it is possible that people won't like your delivery and don't engage with you if you're camera is shaky or the video is too dark or delivery is bad, but still for those that need an outlet the tools are there. That is what gets me the most excited about it all... the barrier to entry is so low. I wonder how my career may have evolved differently had the tools we have now been available when I studied production. I think there is a chance I would have had more confidence in my own abilities.. by being able to try things so easily and learn and grow. As you can see, I really get excited about this stuff and I think that is because I can honestly see that I have become something that I wanted... a real live video blogger with an awesome community. So, now I really wish I could leave you a video here so you could see that my response to you really is with respect of your opinion... (my comments are broken) I've found that if people drop their excuses for why they can't do something and then just do it... it usually leads to good things. =)

Hope you are having a great day, Otir. I when for another jog today.. inspired by your workout yesterday! Talk soon! --sukhjit
