I’m calling this Twitter Jewelry

Am I a big geek for having “Twitter Jewelry”!? Probably, but I found this great jewelry designer in New York at the Brooklyn Flea Market called Birdhouse Jewelry and being the big Twitter junkie (and jewelry junkie) that I am, I had to get something to remember my trip to NYC for the 140 Character Conference! I also have a soft spot for local designers and artist and think it is important to support them with your dollars if you like their work!

The designs at Birdhouse Jewelry are very unique and most everything there was affordable. I bought this necklace and earrings for about $40, which I think is a good price. There was a nice variety of “Twitter Jewelry”… birds in various forms on necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Check out the Birdhouse Jewelry website for the newest collections and let the designer, Amy know that I sent you! She was to shy to be interviewed the day I was there!

I also want to add that the Brooklyn Flea Market is a sold thing to do when you’re in NYC. I went on Saturday AND Sunday and had a great time. There is a huge variety of vintage buys but also a great selection of local designers. I also got some lovely home made ice cream from a vendor at the Sunday market. If you’re in NYC over a weekend, save a few hours to go to the Brooklyn Flea!

  • Hehehe that's really cute! I think it's great you're supporting local artists, not too many people do that!

Love it when you take us with you on your trips and point out things like this that are off the beaten path.

That necklace is so cute! I definitely noticed I have a thing about birds and branches. These themes seem to show up in a lot of my own art and things I pick out. Is there any way to order online?

How cute! I have twitter jewelry too! http://www.ljcfyi.com/2009/02/figs-ginger-neckl... it's from a husband and wife company called Figs & Ginger who are also eco-friendly jewelry designers. I also have a fail whale coin bank on my office desk - but that is something entirely different. - Ljc aka jenny aka KodakCB
  • Hello Jenny! It means so much to me that you took the time to comment here on my blog! Love the site you pointed out to me too! Bird jewelry is so cute and that fact that we have the twitter thing going on is just a bonus. Hey, can we make a pact that we will keep each other in the loop when it comes to cool stuff like this?! Just getting to know you a bit more and thinking we are long lost friends, or sisters separated at birth! Hope all is well with you and thanks again for the comment! =)
  • loveee your necklace! :)
  • Hi @lauralovesart! http://video.seesmic.com/videos/QPh0iRyYJp (sorry for the extra clicking! But I really wanted to leave you a video =)
  • Nice video glad you were able to do a little shooting in NYC with your new cam :) !!!!!
  • Yaay! Gold start for being the first comment. I'd send you a video response but my video comments are still broken. For now... all I can do is send you a text to say thanks, Adam! I really shot hardly anything while I was in NYC, which as you've come to know is very unlike me. This jewelry thought, was hard to pass up and I really wanted to share the designer with other folks who might like some "Twitter" like bling.

Hope all is well with you! What's new?
