It was a grand farewell

My last day in San Francisco was September 9, 2009 (9/9/09). My dear friends Derek and Jennifer Overbey organized a farewell party for me at the Grand Cafe. Here is a video from the night. Also my friend Ken captured some great moments at the party, please have a look at the set on Flickr.

Thank you to everyone who came out to help me celebrate! When I looked around the room, I saw people from all different phases of my life in San Francisco. I have many great memories of my time in the City that I will take with me everywhere. Also a heartfelt thanks to everyone who sent well wishes via facebook, twitter, email, phone, text.. you name it! I feel blessed.

  • I went to SF today and thought of you Sukhjit. I came by your site to see if there were any updates. I hope all is well. We are having Sukjit withdrawals over here.
  • Hey @secretsushi! Thanks for stopping by. I'm sorry to say I haven't been able to update here in days, but I have done a few things on the Sony Electronics Community blog. Did you see this yet? http://www.sonyelectronicscommunity.com/sony/bl... Am curious to hear what you think of the stuff I'm doing there. Have always valued your point of view.

I am missing the Bay Area too. Today, maybe a little bit more than other days... but I must admit I really like San Diego and the job is awesome. When are you and @lebanesebyheart coming to visit? Wait, let me get a little furniture! --sukhjit
  • You will be missed but you're not far away!
  • Hey, you're from San Francisco! Well, hello from Pleasanton. Welcome to Sony! We're excited to have you on the team. And, while San Diego is no San Francisco, truth be told, it's not that bad :).
  • Ray! You're in Pleasanton and you work for Sony? How'd you do that? Actually, I had a hard time leaving the Bay (am still homesick) but I'm really enjoying San Diego and it is incredible to be here with the team at Sony HQ.

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my site and leave a comment! Means a lot to me when people say hi and let me know they stopped by. Look forward to talking with you again. --sukhjit

So this is the difference from knowing you online verse IRL. I'm somewhat indifferent that you're leaving/moving. I know I will always see you online.

I'm happy you're making a life change and starting on a new life adventure and new job. Sometimes we need this. (I'm waiting for my day to come when I will do that as well.) But then another part of me is sad that you're leaving so many local friends.

Of course, I can't wait to see what new gadgets you'll share with us from Sony, but most importantly I can't wait to what new found joy you'll share!

Blog more, blog often. Not all of us can be there for you IRL, but we will always be here (almost at any hour) online!
