Searching for a Saint

Searching for a Saint

Alright fellow video bloggers…. I got us something very important…. something I think will give guidance to us in this new universe of video and the web. I got us a patron saint.

What’s a patron saint? Well, from what I gather, it’s a guide and defender…. typically followed by Catholics, I think. But regardless of religion or belief I think it can’t hurt to have a little video blogging luck via a Patron Saints, can it?

So here is how it happened… during a stellar day of adventuring in New Orleans with my friend Rachael Joy, we discovered Regis Scott an artist set up just outside St Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square. Regis is a very talented painter and her specialty is patron saints.  So, is it any surprise that I asked her for a patron saint of video blogging? There is certainly a great need for a guide…  an overseer in this new direction of video communication. It’s my wish for those of us traveling this path of social media, video and web communication to have some luck and guidance as we find our voice… our audience… and of course, find the money. I hope Saint Gabriel – Patron Saint of Video Blogging gives us what we need to find happiness and success.

If you’re interested in Regis and her art I hope you’ll have a look at her site. Now that I am back in San Francisco and have shared this vlog, I am putting in an order for my patron saint, St Gabriel.

*UPDATE* Saint Gabriel arrived! See the patron saint of video blogging here!

Alan!! You get a gold star, my friend, for being the first to comment. Yes, Regis is the artist. I love her style of painting and I really think it's time we video bloggers get some saintly representation! I wanted to finish the video before I ordered my patron saint painting (that rhymes too)… so I sent her an email today right after I posted this! Can't wait to hear from her. She paints on louann (not sure if that's spelled right) but it's super light and should be inexpensive to ship. Yaay! –sukhjit

Woooow! You're leaving a comment! That rocks! Yes, that was Saint Barack. I really wanted to buy that one too! For now I'm going to start with St. Gabriel. Hopefully Regis sees this video and remembers our conversation. I love the idea of a custom made patron saint painting!

Hey, thanks again for leaving a comment here. Means a lot to me. –sukhjit

heh. I wonder who the Gary Vee saint would be,… that's a painting I'd love ot see!

  • chaeseco

I can't wait to see what she comes up with! …did you hear from her yet? did she see your video yet? let us know!

So you opted for Saint Gabriel? Gavriel in Hebrew means “God is my strength” which is pretty appropriate for a vlogger, isn't it?

Awwwww…you're welcome!!! This is the first time I've ever heard of St. Barack (ok, don't laugh but I actually thought it was one of those things they did for Barack Obama?) :s

Anyhoo, this comment was nothing compared to what I left you under your other vlog “Unboxing Sena Cases” that was a long rambling. But I'm known for having 'verbal diarrhea' when it comes to writing and Twitter just controls that diarrhea with its 140 character limit ehehe

Well, there will be plenty of more comments to come as I watch the videos! By the way, just out of curiosity, how do you decide what topic you'll shoot about? Would you do a video about a topic that most people would be interested in knowing/learning about? (Don't worry, I'm not going to ask you to film a mosquito swatting) ;)

    Ciao!

  • Mike Healy

i liked it the piece…..did you do this all with your cell phone only?

  • http://twitter.com/sukhjit sukhjit

Hey Mike. Thank you so much!

I actually shot that piece with a flipcam! It's very handy. Hope you are having an excellent day!

Lisa!! It is so nice to see you and thank you for coming over to my site! I really appreciate it. I must say, you played a big part in this all happening. Remember… you were the one who encouraged us to sick around while Regis was getting the feast of St Joseph. Otherwise we may have taken off and not come back.

Thank you for your kind words and for being part of my NOLA experience. I have so many wonderful memories of being there.. including meeting you and Regis. –sukhjit
