I had to capture this camera crew that was shooting a commercial across the street. It’s not that uncommon to see a crew working on some show or film or project in San Francisco but it still always catches my eye. For the most part this particular crew is really lean. You have the photographer who is also directing, his grip who is running around with lights, a production assistant who takes care of odds and ends, the producer who is there to make sure everything happens and to be the final word and last the actors. Like I said, this is a small crew but truthfully if you are into the world of vlogging, as I now find myself, this little commercial crew is a luxuriously large one. As a vlogger you are generally solo and must wear every production hat. For myself I have had to learn and understand a lot of creative and technical skills I use to hire other people for. I don’t know what the final commercial will look like. No doubt it will be very professional, I could tell by listening and watching the crew. Although, in the little story I made the lighting is horrible and the filming is rough, I still like it because it’s a slice of life, it’s real.
